Look back: April 2022

In April, the center section of the Chronicle print edition was devoted to our annual health and wellness special section. This year, the section cover featured efforts by Franciscan Health Alliance staff in providing aid to the people of Ukraine, who were and are suffering from the effects of the Russian invasion of their country.

The special section was anchored by Carole Sharwarko’s story on how health care worker Rose Wiley’s life was upended, personally and professionally, by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other stories in the special section include:

  • A look at the consequences of deferring routine doctor visits because of COVID-19 fears.
  • A check-in with Tiffany Castleberry, who was featured in the Chronicle’s 2020 health special section.
  • District 161 nurse Kathy Knawa’s work to support families during the pandemic.
  • Mark Levy’s Senior Solutions service helps elderly with long-term care decisions.
  • The role social workers play in health care settings.
  • After seeing first hand the value of health scans, Pam Oliver makes them more accessible for others.
  • Two stories explain the roles and importance of primary care physicians and occupational therapists.
