The third annual Flossmoor Holiday Lights Parade got some help with seasonal ambience Thursday, Dec. 15, as some vigorous snow flurries arrived just before the parade was about to start.
“It’s like a Flossmoor snow globe,” Mayor Michelle Nelson noted.
The parade was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, an attempt to bring holiday cheer to residents when holiday gatherings were shut down in 2020. The village decided to keep the tradition going.
In addition to bringing cheer to residents, village staff seem to be enjoying the opportunity to go all-out in decorating their vehicles. The Public Works Department, especially, put on a dazzling display this year.
“It’s a fantastic tradition,” Nelson said. “It’s great to see neighbors come out and enjoy the parade at different viewing points. It’s just a thrill.”
