Leave a puzzle, take a puzzle at Flossmoor Library’s puzzle exchange

There’s one more week to be part of the great puzzle exchange hosted by the Flossmoor Library.

Librarian Jamie Paicely says it’s a great way to recycle a puzzle and get something new without a cost.

“You do it once and the thrill is out of it. You know what it’s going to make,” she said.  “This is a way to recycle them and give it a new life.”

Bring a puzzle you’re finished with to the library by Friday, Dec. 23, and you’ll receive a ticket. The ticket will entitle you to come back to the library on Wednesday, Dec. 28, and get a puzzle from those that have been collected. The library will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Puzzles will be displayed for easy selection.

You might find a Christmas themed puzzle, a Star Wars characters puzzle, a nature scene. Paicely said the majority of the puzzles are 500 or 1,000 pieces.

“We’ve had a good response. I think there’s a variety for people that have participated. The more the merrier of course,” she said.

Stephanie Wright, Flossmoor’s events coordinator, suggested a puzzle exchange to Paicely, but she said Janet DiCastro, adult programmer for the library, was the first to share the idea with her. It was an idea that was set aside because it was during COVID and people were not out and about and there was concern about handling something from someone else.

When Wright recently reminded her of the idea, Paicely thought now was a better time to initiate the puzzle exchange.
