Veterans appreciate James Hart Veterans Day event honoring their service

More than two dozen veterans attended the annual Veterans Day event at James Hart School in Homewood. Students and staff honored the veterans for their service and got a couple of history lessons, too.

Veterans said they appreciate the annual event, and they took the opportunity to talk about their service (see video below).

During a school assembly, the James Hart orchestra performed the national anthem, and the band performed the anthems for each branch of the service except the new Space Force, which just released its official anthem in September.

As is traditional, veterans stood when the anthem for the branch they served was played.

Prior to the musical program, Band Director Matt Johnson delivered a history of the national anthem, and Superintendent Scott McAlister provided histories of each branch of military service.
