LEAF IT AT THE CURB - Village of Flossmoor offers Free Leaf Collection from Nov. 7 to Dec. 2. Residents of single-family homes can place leaves only in 33-gallon biodegradable paper bags on the street curb for free pick-up, no stickers needed. 

Bags should be set at the curb no later than 6 a.m. your scheduled collection days. Homewood Disposal customers should follow their normal trash pickup schedule. All others can refer to the color-coded map on the village website.

  • Flossmoor Business Association open house, 5 to 7 p.m., downtown Flossmoor.


  • Holiday Lights in Homewood, 5 to 9 p.m., Ridge Road and Martin Avenue downtown. Shopping, carousel, mulled wine, cookies, ice sculpture, music, antique car parade.
  • Tree-lighting ceremony with Santa Claus, 7 p.m., Irwin Park.


  • Janet Gustafson’s gingerbread village tours, 3 to 6 p.m. Register at flossmoor.org.
