PET ADOPTION DISCOUNTS – During the 12 hours of their Midnight Madness Sale, South Suburban Humane Society is offering specials and discounts. At times they will waive dog and cat adoption fees. Noon to midnight today at SSHS, 21800 Central Ave. in Matteson. Noon to midnight today.

HUNGER AWARENESS WALK – You Matter 2 invites you to walk the We Scare Hunger Trail on Saturday at Flossmoor Community Church. The event, benefitting Respond Now, features a haunted house and hot chocolate bar. Admission is at least four non-perishable food items or $5 per person. Family hour is 5 to 6 p.m. Scare hours are 7 to 9 p.m.

WALKING IN A WALTON WONDERLAND – Visit Izaak Walton Nature Preserve for Walk Walton 2022, a nature fest and fundraiser for Homewood Science Center. Festival goers will enjoy exploring nature, decorating pumpkins and investigating marine biology at the pond. 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. $25 for adults; free for kids.
