UPDATE (10 a.m. Saturday): H-F High School reports Blue has been found: “Blue the macaw was returned safely to H-F Friday night! Thank you to everyone who looked for him or helped spread the word.”
He’s much larger than your neighborhood sparrow and his coloring is much more distinctive than a cardinal’s. He’s much larger than anything you see in the trees in Homewood or Flossmoor.
And, he has a name — Majestic Blue, but you can call him Blue for short.
Blue is a macaw that’s been part of the Zoo/Bots program at Homewood-Flossmoor High School for about a half dozen years. That was until Oct. 2 when he went missing. Students are surprised that Blue got away because his wings are clipped and he’s not supposed to be able to fly much.
He’s got blue wing feathers, a bit of green on his head and a bright yellow breast, and his beak is a bit curved.
