H-F U9 girls team wins trophy in tournament

The H-F Soccer Club U9 girls traveling team won top honors at the Woodridge Fall Festival Tournament.

The team entered play Saturday, Sept. 17, and won the first game 7-0 against the Wilmette Wings and went on to beat KICS South in an 8-2 match. On Sunday, the girls won 4-0 against Hawthorne Woods and went on to the championship game again facing KICS South defeating them 8-0.

The team received a trophy, and individual medals were presented to the players.

The eight-year-olds represent H-F Soccer Club, but play under the umbrella of the Tinley Park Bobcats. Team members Naomi Zurek, Evelyn Pinto, Lola Laven, Caroline Will, Danielle Dunigan, Emilia Leahy, Maddy Gozzi, Mackenzie Berk, and Olivia Jackson are coached by Kate Goesel and Blake Pinto.

H-F Soccer Club also fielded a U10 boys team for the tournament. The team won in the first round, tied in the second game, but were eliminated in the finals.

Team members are George Airey, Bailyn Bell, Mikey Beno, Max Bizjak, A’dyn Clark, Benjamin Lopez, Lyle Raske, Harrison Rudolph, David Silva, Ernie Volini, Vinny Volini. Team coaches are Alex Airey and Jason Bizjak. 

The H-F Soccer Club is hosting “Flood the Field,” a meet-and-greet event from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Bicentennial Park in Olympia Fields for anyone interested in learning about club activities and teams and a get a chance to talk with coaches. Refreshments will be served.

The event will give guests the chance to see the U10 boys team play a game at 2:30 p.m. against UESC-Chicagoland, and the U9 girls will play at 4 p.m. vs KICS South.
