Anew to host ‘Sneaker Ball’ to celebrate 42 years of providing services to families in the Southland

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse will kick off the month by celebrating more than four decades of providing services to families impacted by domestic violence.  

The annual Keeping Dreams Alive event will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 p.m. at the Olympia Field Country Club. The theme is Sneaker Ball, where guests will wear their cocktail attire with their favorite pair of sneakers. 

The special host for the event will be ABC7 Chicago’s Val Warner.

Anew will present the 2022 Velton Lacefield Memorial Award to Cece Coffey for her years of bringing awareness to domestic violence and various charities by selling her delicious pies with a purpose.  Proceeds from the pie of the month sale support local charities.

The Diane Kessler Community Champion Award goes to Calvary Protestant Church of Park Forest, Ill., for their commitment to bringing  awareness to domestic violence and for the years of providing space for Anew group meetings.
