PSC President selected for Aspen New Presidents Fellowship

Michael Anthony, president of Prairie State College, is one of 26 leaders selected for the 2022-23 class of the Aspen New Presidents Fellowship supporting community college presidents in the early years of their tenure.

Anthony was named PSC president in September 2022. He had served as vice president of student affairs and institutional effectiveness before his appointment.

“Dr. Anthony is a pioneer in his own right, being the first Black president at Prairie State College and the youngest to serve in his role,” said Ronald J. White, chairman of the PSC Board of Trustees. “As president, he is instrumental in advancing our institution in ways that will positively impact PSC for years to come. We are tremendously proud and appreciative of his sound leadership.”

The fellowship program is made possible with support from JPMorgan Chase. The 26 fellows, selected through a competitive process, represent the diversity of community colleges, collectively serving over 250,000 students at colleges across the nation, in urban, suburban, and rural areas.

The community college presidents will work with Aspen leaders over nine months examining field-leading research, analyzing their colleges’ student outcomes, and clarifying their visions for excellent and equitable outcomes for students in college and after graduation.
