A pet died, and a firefighter suffered a minor injury battling a blaze Monday, Aug. 29, at 2504 Spruce Road in Homewood.

Homewood Fire Chief Bob Grabowski said two residents were home at the time the fire broke out, but they reportedly suffered no injuries.

He said the call came in at 1:40 p.m., and the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes. Crews were on scene for about two hours.

The home was severely damaged, he said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
