Add trees at lower cost: Treeshare returns to Homewood Farmers Market in September

The Homewood Tree Committee and the Department of Public Works invites Homewood residents to purchase discounted trees at the Homewood Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, Sept. 10 and Sept. 17, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., on Martin Square, between Chestnut and Ridge Roads in downtown Homewood.

Approximately 60 trees will be available to purchase on a first come, first served basis. Homewood residents will need to show proof of residency. An arborist and tree committee members will be present to address any questions.

The cost ranges from $45 to $95 per tree.

Assistance will be available to load the 50- to 70-pound trees into vehicles.

The Village of Homewood is reminding residents to put a tarp down in the back of the vehicle to avoid a mess. Trees will be in a root bag or container and stand between six feet and 10 feet tall.

Tree varieties for sale tentatively include redbud, serviceberry, burr oak, pansy redbud, American yellowwood, swamp white oak, shingle oak, sweetgum and Kentucky coffeetree.
