CHALK THE WALK - Flossmoor School District 161 invites residents to welcome students back to school with Chalk the Walk at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Write positive messages of encouragement and inspiration on the sidewalk outside your home or business, or visit a school to chalk your message.

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.
