Summer Fest a blast for Homewood Science Center

More than 150 people came together on Thursday, July 28, to have a fun time at Summer Fest, the fundraiser for the Homewood Science Center.

“The unwavering support we receive from so many is humbling,” said Edie Dobrez, executive director of the center.

The event raised an estimated $32,000 through ticket sales and auction items. The money will be added to the center’s operating revenue.

The party at Rabid Brewing in Homewood was under a huge white tent where the band Not My Dad entertained. The crowd spread out from there, with tables jammed along the grassy noll. Without a cloud in the sky and a temperature in the upper 70s, the setting made for a pleasant evening.

Dobrez said the “Fund the Fun” campaign continues. The HSC board is hoping to raise enough funds to purchase two new interactive exhibits for the renovated STEAM studio.
