Flossmoor police confirmed the death of Oliver Paredes, a junior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, in a car crash early Sunday morning.
Police said around 2:45 a.m. the car was northbound on Western Avenue at Hutchinson Road when it left the roadway. Oliver was the only occupant.
Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
Staff at Homewood-Flossmoor High School are offering counseling to students through its Crisis Team, and offering additional resources through the National Association of School Psychologists. Support services are also available to students at Parker Junior High, from which Oliver graduated.
Oliver is survived by his parents, Steve and Janet Paredes, and his younger brother Rory.
