Homewood trustees to consider next step in village hall parking lot redevelopment

At the Homewood village board meeting Tuesday, June 14, trustees will learn whether any alternative proposals for redeveloping the commuter parking lot at village hall have been received.

On  May 14, trustees directed staff to advertise for alternative proposals after receiving interest in the site from HCF Homewood, the firm currently developing the Hartford Building at Ridge Road and Martin Avenue in downtown Homewood.

The firm hopes to develop a five-story, 59-unit residential building on the lot at 2024 Chestnut Road.

If no alternative proposals are received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, the board can direct staff to negotiate a sale agreement with HCF Homewood.

In other business, trustees will consider a parking variance for a barbershop at 18159 Dixie Highway.

The board also will consider appointing Sharon Sedgwick to the Beautification Committee and Margaret O’Brien to the Economic Development Committee.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the village hall board room, 2020 Chestnut Road.

The meeting also can be attended remotely by visiting https://zoom.us. Select: “join a meeting” from the menu at the top right of the page. Use meeting ID 980 4907 6232 and password 830183.
