Heat warning

Cool weather comes to an abrupt end today, with a high of 88, but things get serious Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a heat warning for both days. The high is expected to be 97 and 95 respectively. On Thursday the temperature drop way down to 89 for the high.

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
