ART CLUB FOR TEENS - There's still time for teens ages 12 to 15 to register for a two-month art class that starts at 4:30 p.m. tonight. 

Students will draw and paint with various materials and combinations such as charcoal, colored pencils, watercolors, inks and felt tip pens. Students will receive individual attention to help foster their basic skills in drawing and painting. 

Classes are from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, today to Aug. 3 at the Irwin Center. Register with H-F Park District at Receive a 3-day free trial of unlimited digital access.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
