The Performing Arts Center, the newest addition to Homewood-Flossmoor High School, will be open to the public when the Fine Arts Department hosts an open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11.

The community will get a chance to view the outstanding works of students in the arts, enjoy their short performances and learn of their accomplishments.

Guests are asked to enter through Door 12 off the H-F parking lot at 999 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor. They will be greeted at the cafeteria by fine arts honors students who will give tours of the facilities.

The Performing Arts Center is a 30,000-square-foot wing on the South Building, built at a cost of $16.37 million. It expanded the spaces for the performing arts, band, orchestra and choral programs and remodeled 9,000 square feet of space for the fine arts.

The space officially opened in spring 2021, but school was still in remote learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This school year was the first students got to learn and perform in the new spaces.
