PIES FOR SCIENCE - Orders open at 9 a.m. Friday for key lime pie sales that will benefit scholarship opportunities at Homewood Science Center. Pies cost $25 with delivery in the H-F area by A Piece of the Pie, which will donate the net proceeds of all sales to HSC. Only 25 pies will be sold. Order on Facebook when you see the post go up Friday morning.

HFHS PROM TIME - Just more than two weeks remain for H-F High School juniors and seniors to buy tickets for this year's prom at the Field Museum of Natural . . .

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
