Donations for Ukraine being accepted through April 2

A temple in Homewood and a business in Flossmoor are part of a humanitarian aid program for the people of Kharkiv, Ukraine. Organizers hope to collect 1,000 items by Saturday, April 2.

Donations can be left at Shir Tikvah Temple, 1424 W. 183rd Street in Homewood, or Gypsy Fix, 1056 Sterling Ave. in downtown Flossmoor.

The donations list includes everything from sleeping bags to Tylenol, backpacks to first aid kits and new fleece blankets. A full list is at Amazon wish list. If donations are purchased at that site, during checkout select Shir Tikvah under “address other options.”

The collected items will be shipped to Ukraine via Poland. The drive is organized by Lana Rogachevskaya, a local resident who emigrated to the U.S. 20 years ago from Kharkiv, and by Kharkiv’s Kitchen.
