Driver dies in early morning crash

Homewood police said the driver in a single vehicle crash died early Saturday.

Police and fire units responded to the 18300 block of Harwood Avenue shortly after 3:40 a.m.

They discovered the body of a 32-year-old woman in a vehicle that appeared to have struck a tree on the west side of Harwood near Birch Road.

The driver's identity has not been released pending notification of family.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team. Police urge anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Homewood Police Department . . .
