FEELING CRAFTY? - Kids can get their craft on, with two Grab & Go options from Homewood Library today. Children in kindergarten to second grade can get a Flower Science craft from the Youth Services Area at any time. Young people in seventh through 12th grades can register for Make It Monday to pick up a Yard Bird craft kit (you have to see the photo) at 4 p.m.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
