Franciscan Health named Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

“This distinction is further evidence of our commitment to deliver high-quality, comprehensive cancer diagnostics and treatments to Chicago’s Southland,” said Allan Spooner, president and CEO of Franciscan Health South Suburban Chicago Division. “It also underscores the outstanding care and dedication by our physicians, imaging professionals, nurses and staff who have collaborated to meet the rigorous standards for this center of excellence designation in our community.”
