CRATE CLIMBING CHALLENGE - Feel the luck of the Irish during a crate climbing challenge at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center from 4 to 6 p.m. on March 16. Kids ages 11 to 17 can join “Feeling Lucky” Crate Climbing, with an instructor keeping everyone safe. Fee is $20; register with H-F Park District.

SPRING BREAK DAY CAMP - H-F Park District offers a spring break day camp from March 28 to April 1 at Irwin Center, for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Daily fees apply. Register online.

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
