The village of Homewood has brought on a new assistant village manager.
Justine Bruno, a Philadelphia native who earned a master’s in public administration from Arizona State University, spent her first day on the village’s payroll on Feb. 7. Bruno filled an opening left by Village Manager Napoleon Haney when he assumed his current position.
“Justine’s professional background has prepared her well for this opportunity. Partnered with Homewood’s current staff leaders providing depth, knowledge and support, we expect her to be absolutely successful in this role. I believe Justine will quickly add value to our exceptional organization and community,” Haney said.
In addition to her academic training, that background includes metropolitan municipal work in Arizona and Colorado. From 2018 through January of 2022, Bruno served as assistant to the city manager in Loveland, Colorado — a town of just over 76,000 north of Denver. Prior to that, she worked as an analyst for the city of Gilbert, Arizona. With nearly 270,000 residents, Gilbert is the fifth largest municipality in Arizona.
Bruno says she will bring a “collaborative and progressive approach” to her position along with her “enthusiasm for data-driven decision making, community engagement and fiscal responsibility.”
