COOKIE BOXES - In addition to buying from your local troop, you can now satisfy your sweet tooth by getting Girl Scouts cookies at Homewood Science Center. Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana now sells cookies at HSC from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

PLAN TO PLAY BALL - Registration is now open for the 2022 spring season of Homewood baseball, softball and T-ball. Games are played at Izaak Walton Nature Preserve. Opening day is April 23. Find registration online.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
