OUTDOOR ICE SKATING LESSONS - Kids 12 and younger can get a unique experience, learning ice skating outdoors at classes at the rinks at Flossmoor Park. Starting Saturday, H-F Park District offers classes for beginner skaters to learn marching, gliding and balancing, along with the proper way to fall and get up.

Skate rental will be available. Lesson schedules will be determined based on weather and ice conditions, and participants will be notified on the Friday before lesson times. Fee is $15 per class. Register at https://conta.cc/3HfnbQw . . .

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
