Woman dies after midday 3-car crash on Halsted St.

An 81-year-old woman died from injuries she sustained in a vehicle crash Thursday on Halsted Street, according to Homewood Police.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 27, first responders arrived on the scene of a traffic crash in the 17600 block of Halsted Street, including Homewood police and fire departments, and Glenwood Fire Department.

Homewood Police said three vehicles were involved in the crash: a tan colored Toyota, a blue Chevrolet, and a black Nissan.

The driver of the Chevrolet was treated for her injuries at the scene and transported to Advocate South Suburban Hospital, where she died. The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of her family members.

Also injured was the driver of the Toyota, a 34-year-old male, who was also treated for injuries and transported to South Suburban Hospital.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
