Homewood, Flossmoor village offices to remain closed through Jan. 18 in response to COVID-19 surge

Flossmoor officials announced on Jan. 2 that village hall at 2800 Flossmoor Road and the Public Works office at 1700 Central Park Ave. would remain closed until Jan. 18 “in an attempt to continue mitigation efforts against the current COVID-19 surge, and to protect members of the public and village staff.” On Dec. 30, Homewood announced its village hall at 2020 Chestnut Road and Public works office at 17755 Ashland Ave. would be closed for the same period.

Flossmoor residents can continue to conduct business with the village remotely via mail, drop box, email or phone.

Drop boxes are located in the village hall parking lot and in the Police Department lobby. Contact the village via phone at 708-798-2300.

Water bill payments may be dropped off in the drop boxes in the Village Hall parking lot (no cash) or the Police Department (cash accepted). Visit www.flossmoor.org to learn more about online payments. Staff will not be conducting field visits for meter installations or drainage concerns.

Emergency services will continue normally and rest assured emergency response will not be compromised. However, at this time child safety seat installations, fingerprinting and other non-life-safety inspections will be delayed.

The Flossmoor Police Department will still take reports via phone or in office, but any in-person reports will be taken via phone or socially distanced, when applicable.

Homewood also encourages residents to conduct business with the village remotely. There is a dropbox in front of village hall for delivering bill payments.

Police, Fire and Public Works services remain unchanged at this time.

Administrative hearings scheduled for Jan. 4 will continue with strict COVID protocols in place, however, hearings will be continued to Feb. 1 with no penalty for anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 or does not feel comfortable entering village hall.
