Summer youth sport leagues offer winter opportunities to work out, try out

No need to wait for spring. Summer youth sports have winter opportunities for players to hone skills or try out for travel teams.

Flossmoor Baseball and Softball
Flossmoor Baseball and Softball will sponsor winter workouts starting Jan. 9 and running seven sessions through March 6.

There will be specific time slots for softball, T-ball, Pinto League, Mustang League and Bronco League and Pony League players.

The workshops are included as part of season registration. Workouts will be held indoors in the Homewood Flossmoor High School turf room, located in the North Building.

Chaneyville Girls Baseball
Chaneyville Girls Baseball is holding tryouts now for a 2022 girls tournament team. The team will play in local, regional and national tournaments. The team is open to girls aged 11 to 14 and will be coached by Fred Chaney.

HF Soccer Club
Registration is now open for >HF Soccer Club’s indoor training camps at the Homewood-Flossmoor High School field house in Flossmoor on Sunday afternoons from Jan. 9 to March 20, except for Feb. 13.

The program is for boys and girls ages 4 to 14. Beginners and experienced players can improve their skills of dribbling, passing and shooting while playing games under the guidance of the club’s coaching staff.

Homewood Baseball and Softball
Homewood Baseball and Softball has two travel teams forming for summer play.

The Homewood Hawks is the part-time travel baseball team, and the Homewood Heat is the softball travel team. Both are open to players in the organization’s recreation leagues.

Teams are formed under the 8U, 10U, and 12U age brackets based on participant interest. Tryouts are normally held during the winter months.
