Obituary: Josette ‘Josie’ Théa Nordman | Nov. 6, 2021

Josette “Josie” Théa Nordman, age 28, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021, after a courageous, lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

Josette Nordman
Born June 14, 1993, to Joseph Nordman and Nicolle Nordman. Josie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents James Nordman and Venita Wright; and her maternal step-grandfather Henry “Heinz” Seivering.

Survived by her parents; her siblings, Jaron, Darcey, and Logan; her maternal grandparents, Roberta “Bobbie” Seivering and David Block; her aunts, Jodi (Stuart) Jackson, Beth (Shawn) Halfman; and cousins Jacob, Joshua, Oliver Jackson, and Savana Halfman.

Josie is a 2011 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School where she performed and worked behind the scenes on several theatre productions. She went on to attend Northwestern University, studying, producing, and performing live theatre. In 2013, at the age of 20, she received a double lung transplant. The newfound ability to breathe freely, which most of us take for granted, allowed her to move forward with her dreams of a ‘normal’ life. After recovering from her transplant surgery, she returned to Northwestern and earned her bachelor’s degree in Theatre. She spent time in London as well as multiple stays in Prague, studying Shakespeare and performing onstage. She was an avid horse lover who worked as a horse trainer and riding instructor in California. She loved animals, her dog Kylo, all things Marvel (especially Loki), and her boyfriend, Hauk.

Josie embodied the attitude that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to. After the transplant, she lived with a zest that many of us can only imagine. She was full of spark, life, and above all, determination. Her “can do” attitude inspired and impacted those who crossed her path. She will always be remembered for living like every day could be her last.
