The Flossmoor Community Relations Commission announced on Friday that the village is seeking service projects to partner with for the eighth annual Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service.

The Day of Service will be on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022.

In 1994, Congress declared Dr. King’s federal holiday a National Day of Service. Over the last two decades, millions of people have given back on this day.

Since 2015, the village of Flossmoor has partnered with community organizations and volunteers to support MLK Day of Service projects.

“This year, we would like to create even more community volunteer opportunities by increasing the number of volunteer sites,” village officials said in a news release. “We are seeking local non-profits to host service projects at your location on MLK Day. You think up the project and we will bring the volunteers to you.”

The village has provided an online form to register a service project.

Local non-profit organizations, community groups and businesses are welcome to sponsor projects on behalf of a non-profit organization.

“You provide the project and we will connect you to volunteers. We will promote your project and direct interested volunteers to you,” village officials said.
