Emergency response team activated in domestic violence situation late Tuesday in Homewood

Homewood police responded about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday to the 18200 block of Morgan Street near James Hart School after receiving a report of domestic battery.

The victim left the apartment before calling 911. She told officers that someone had threatened her with a firearm.

Officers were unable to make contact with the alleged offender, who had remained in the apartment.

The South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT) then responded to the scene.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Jerimea McGhee, 34, of Homewood was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery and possession of firearm ammunition without a firearm owners identification card. Ammunition and a holster were located in the apartment, according to police.
