IPO opens season Saturday with concert and ballet

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra opens its 2021-22 season on Saturday, Oct. 16, with a 5:30 p.m. concert featuring works of Eric Ewazen, Florence Price and Aaron Copland.

The performance will be at Ozinga Chapel, 6601 W College Drive, at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights.

Joining the orchestra will be members of The Joffrey Academy of Dance, the official school of the Joffrey Ballet, in a choreographed piece presented during the orchestra’s performance of “Appalachian Spring” by Copland.

“We are thrilled to welcome audiences back to the beautiful Ozinga Chapel with a concert that illustrates IPO’s continuous exploration of American composers as well as strong artistic commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion,” said Maestro Stilian Kirov.

Ticket prices start at $27 and can be purchased the day of the performance, or by contacting the IPO staff at ipomusic.org.
