RECYCLE YOUR JUNK - Load up your car with stuff from the basement or garage, and bring it to Recyclepalooza at Parker Junior High from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. See our website for a list of accepted items.

FLOSSMOOR ROAD CLOSURE - Installation of the Douglas Avenue storm sewer will close the road between the alley north of Flossmoor Road and School Street, from 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday . . .

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
