Paul Thornton, 88, of Hazel Crest will be honored Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Hazel Crest board meeting for his years of service to the Hazel Crest Board of Fire and Police Commission
Thornton, a veteran and lawyer, spent much of his career working for the Internal Revenue Service. He has served on the Fire and Police Commission for more than 25 years. One of his daughters, Paula Thornton Greear, is a Homewood resident.
In recognition for the time and talents he has given to the betterment of the community, a proclamation was issued by the mayor declaring Thornton’s 80th birthday on Jan. 20, 2013, to be Paul Thornton Day in the Village of Hazel Crest.
