Annual open house to celebrate Homewood Fire Department’s 125th anniversary

After a year’s hiatus, the Homewood Fire Department once again will host its annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The department invites the community to help it celebrate 125 years of service to the village.

The event will include family fun activities and a chance to learn something about the history of the fire department, firefighting and how to keep your family safe in an emergency.

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15
