MEDICAL HIRING EVENT - UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital hosts a hiring event from 1 to 5 p.m. today at 19550 Governors Highway, Flossmoor. The hospital is hiring for many medical positions including certified nursing assistants, registered nurses and more.

PARK PLANTERS - On Saturday, you can volunteer with members of South Suburbs for Greenspace to plant mums and pansies from the Irons Oaks sale at two local parks. Find them at 10 a.m. at Flossmoor Park, 2449 Flossmoor Road, and at noon Patriots Park, 18630 W. 187th St., Homewood . . .

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
