HALF A TREE - Get a new tree for your home and only play half the price with Homewood TreeShare program. On Saturdays, Sept. 18 and 25, residents can buy a tree at Homewood Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn more at the village website.

'DRIVE' WHILE YOU WALK - Throughout September, you can read a children's story while you walk the path at Flossmoor Park, 2449 Flossmoor Road. H-F Park District and Flossmoor Library sponsor the Story Trail, which features "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus."

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
