HALF A TREE – Get a new tree for your home and only play half the price with Homewood TreeShare program. On Saturdays, Sept. 18 and 25, residents can buy a tree at Homewood Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn more at the village website.

‘DRIVE’ WHILE YOU WALK – Throughout September, you can read a children’s story while you walk the path at Flossmoor Park, 2449 Flossmoor Road. H-F Park District and Flossmoor Library sponsor the Story Trail, which features “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.”

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS – Young adults ages 16 to 24 who are not currently enrolled in school have a chance to gain training and a six-week paid internship through Opportunity Works, a program helping to connect unemployed Cook County residents with training for work competencies and supportive services. The next classes begin Sept. 16 at Prairie State College.
