HOT DAYS AHEAD - High heat and humidity continue to cause potential for unpredictable storm activity throughout the day. The forecast calls for a high of 91 degrees, with a heat index values reaching up to 101.

BID ON BARRELS - More than $1,700 has already been raised in Flossmoor's Barrels for Hope auction benefitting the Flossmoor Public Art Commission. Bidding remains open until Sept. 11. The barrels were donated by Flossmoor Station Brewery and painted by local artists.

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.
