Illinois expands free COVID-19 testing to all K-12 public schools in state

FISHING DERBY OPEN TO ALL - Cast your line for a good time at the William McDowell Memorial Fishing Derby from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Dolphin Lake in Homewood. Anyone interested in fishing is invited. Borrow a pole and bum some bait. Those 16 and older need state and local fishing permits.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
