Songs were in the air

Flossmoor police issued an update Friday afternoon on a shooting incident Thursday that resulted in injuries to two men. Investigators believe victims were targeted and the shooting is related to a previous incident between two groups in nearby communities

Police responded to Travers and Vardon Lanes shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday and discovered two shooting victims, a 21-year-old from Blue Island who was treated at the scene, and a 22-year-old from Chicago Heights who was treated and released from Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Investigators are receiving limited cooperation from the victims, police said. Investigators hope . . .

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.
