Driver killed in early morning single-vehicle crash

A 24-year-old man was killed in the early morning hours on Saturday when the vehicle he was driving likely struck a tree in Homewood, police said.

According to a press release, just after 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, crews from Homewood Police Department and Homewood Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic crash in the area of 187th Street and Loomis Avenue.

When they arrived, first responders found a single vehicle incident in which a maroon Chevrolet appears to have struck a tree on the south side of 187th Street . . .
