BE A PARK EXPLORER - H-F Park District challenges you to visit as many of its 30 parks as you can by Sept. 6, and rate them by completing the online Park Explorers rating guide. Get points for answering questions; the top five explorers get a HFPD Parks Explorers shirt.

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
