Illinois Department of Public Health adopts CDC school guidance (free content)

The District 233 school board granted tenure to six teachers at Homewood-Flossmoor High School at its April 5 meeting.

Tenure is awarded to teachers after four years as a probationary teacher. Ashley Alex, Jennifer Byrd, Alyssa Marassa, John McCarthy, Ted Venegas and Tiffany White were recognized for tenure.

In a letter to the teachers, Superintendent Von Mansfield said tenure tells “students and parents of the district that your total impact on your students and colleagues has been carefully appraised and that you have our complete endorsement as a permanent member of this faculty. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
