Bike the Gem event returns to Flossmoor after pandemic hiatus

'STAY FEARLESS' TOWN HALL - Cancer Support Center hosts its annual town hall meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at its Homewood location. The evening starts with an open house and refreshments, followed by a discussion of the nonprofit's successes in 2021 and a Q&A session when community members can share their thoughts and ideas about future programs.

CLEAR THE BASES - Flossmoor Baseball & Softball needs volunteers to help prepare fields for the playing season. Leaders are asking volunteers to spend one to two hours weeding, cleaning up garbage and more from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Flossmoor . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
