PRAIRIE AT NIGHT - Join Dave Ward, retired golf course superintendent and native plant expert, on an educational walk around Coyote Run Golf Course. This free walk is appropriate for all ages. 6 p.m. Thursday, meet outside the Clubhouse/Wiley's.

Dave will talk about the ways native plant species have adapted to local landscapes and the importance of native plants for local wildlife. He'll also offer tips for incorporating native plants in your home and garden.

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
