Homewood Science Center offers Science Café virtual sessions for junior high students

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District approved a $2,921,553 contract for the refrigeration system at the H-F Ice Arena at a special board meeting Tuesday, March 29.

American Arena was the low bidder for the ice refrigeration system, concrete and new dasher boards. American Arena intends to have permanent ice completed by Nov. 1.

In a report to the board, Debbie Kopas, executive director, said this is the first step for repairs now that the park district has W.B. Olson, Inc. as project manager and Williams Architect as project architect.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
