SPRING CLEANING - Chicago Southland Green Committee and the Village of Flossmoor sponsor a community cleanup day on April 2. Volunteers will gather at Parker Junior High School to prepare for the day of outdoor spring cleaning. Children 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. HUNT FOR GROWN-UPS - Bring a flashlight and a basket to the Adult Egg Hunt on April 22 at Irons Oaks. Adults 21 and older will play games and walk the trails to find eggs filled with grown-up goodies including a night at the movies . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
